GROWTH - LEADERSHIP

M.E.T. - MINISTRY EXECUTIVE TEAM

Your Ministry Executive Team is currently hard at work seeking ever-expanding opportunities to make disciples for Jesus Christ. Consideration is being given to growing our church through visionary programming, community outreach and expansion into the surrounding communities. We invite you, the Congregation, to share your ideas with any member of the MET as we strive to follow the Great Commission and welcome all to our amazing
Christ-centered church.

There IS A Program We Can Access called CELEBRATE RECOVERY. It started in l991 at the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. Their founding pastor, Rick Warren, saw that people within the church family needed help with their hurts, habits and hang-ups. So with the help of his associate, John Baker, they started a program that mimics the12-step program of AA, only it is Christ centered and focused on divine healing with the guidance and support of church members. Now over 3,500 churches have taken the initiative to serve their congregations by organizing a CR program for their local fellowship. We can do the same, but we need a CORE GROUP to plan and operate the program! Over the years, these churches have found that the best leaders are those persons who have gone thru a program of recovery themselves. Now they have a strong desire to help others do the same. These people make the best leaders for the Celebrate Recovery program because of their passion to help others recover also.

My interest comes from the leading of the Spirit of God, but also from my years as a Clinical Psychologist counseling others. I am willing to help us start CELEBRATE RECOVERY in our congregation, but it is critical that we need a core group of 8 to 10 persons who have recovered enough from their wounds to lead this program. Yes, it takes the courage to come forward. Yes, it will take time and effort for the weekly meetings. But the rewards will be great to witness the victories ahead for those who have finally found themselves. If you want to be involved, call me at my home at 633 8490 or talk to me at church. I am ready to get involved. What are you waiting for?  Dr. Ken Barringer, Retired Clinical Psychologist and Methodist Pastor.

 UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

What a wonderful event the April Gathering of Friends and Members was for those attending. It was a joy to hear Danielle Flood from ECHO speak about the life changing work they do with plants and seeds. Notice in the picture all you can grow although it does not look as neat and pristine as our gardens. But it feeds a hungry family. Keep dropping those pennies into the jar when you come to church. Glass jars marked for this are in both buildings.

SUMMER TIME IS VACATION TIME SO THE ONLY CIRCLE MEETING
IS THE PRAYER CIRCLE WHICH MEETS EACH WEEK,
9 AM, IN THE CHAPEL.

Learn more about our world and the great ways Christian mission is happening. Other countries are reaching out in mission as we of the US have done for almost 200 years. Find out about the possible peace in Sudan, a much understood country in Africa because of the press it receives. If your interest lies in Bible study, attend to search the Letter of John for the message of God’s Love for all the world. How can you do that? Attend the annual School of Christian Mission at Florida Southern College, Lakeland in July. There are classes for children, youth and adults.

The adults may register for one of the following studies:
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD: John’s Letters
JOY TO THE WORLD: Mission in the Age of Global Christianity
